Story: Ada Elizabeth Wightman was born in Weymouth, Dorset, on 19 Sep 1879 and baptised there on 14 Oct 1879 the daughter of David Wightman (a Grocer) and Jane Dunford Wightman (nee Mace). By 1891 the family had moved to 26 High Street, Shaftesbury, Dorset. where, at the outbreak of war, Ada had joined the British Red Cross (Voluntary Aid Detachment) on 9 Aug 1915 and remained in service until 28 May 1919. She worked all this time in the Military Hospital, Plymouth, Devon. By the 1939 Register she was living at 80 Old Castle Road, Weymouth, Dorset, still single. She died in the Bournemouth, Hampshire, area on 1 Feb 1961.
