Story: Thomas Jerrett Latta was born in 1883 in the registration district of Wimborne. He was the son of George Latta, a Carpenter, and Mary Ann Latta. At the time of the 1911 Census, he was working as a Farm Labourer and living at Sixpenny Handley, Dorset. In 1912 he married Annie L. Avery and they had one child, a daughter. He enlisted in the Dorsetshire Regiment (Service No. 10522) and at the time of his death held the rank of Lance Corporal. He served in France & Flanders and was awarded the Victory, British War and 1915 Star medals. He died on 7th October 1916 and was buried at Etaples Military Cemetery in France (grave id. XVI.E.10A). He is remembered on the Sixpenny Handley War Memorial.
