Story:
William Edward Bath was born in Ebbesbourne Wake, Wiltshire, on 13 Mar 1896 and baptised at Fovant, Wiltshire, on 3 May 1896 the son of Charles Bath and Mary Ann Bath (nee Foyle).   He lived his early life with his family in Pound Street, Ebbesbourne Wake.  By 1911 he had moved to Handley Street, Ebbesbourne Wake, living with his Uncle.   He enlisted on 4th Nov 1915 and joined the Royal Navy becoming a Stoker 1st Class (Service No. K28944).   He was discharged on 7 Jan 1919 and awarded the Victory and British War Medals.   The 1921 Census shows him living at The Parsonage, Bower Chalke, Ebbesbourne Wake, Wiltshire, assisting his father on a farm. He married Frances Ellen Penny at Bower Chalke on 21 Oct 1922.   By the time of the 1939 Register he was living at The Coote Arms, Martin, Fordingbridge, Hampshire, described as a Dairy Farmer and Licensed Victualler.   His death was recorded at the Salisbury, Wiltshire, Registry in 1982.
