Ashley Herbert Broadway

Story:
Ashley Herbert Broadway was born in Enmore Green, Shaftesbury, Dorset, on 22 Feb 1899 the son of Herbert Broadway and Margaret Broadway (nee Brownless).  He lived his early life with his family at 6 New Buildings, Enmore Green.   He enlisted on 27 Mar 1917 and joined the Royal Marines Divisional Training Reserve as a Private (Service No. 2702/S).  It is not known in which theatre of war he served but on his discharge was awarded the Victory and British War Medals.    He married Edith L. Barrett in Bournemouth in 1930.  By the time of the 1939 Register he was living at 5A Luckham Road East, Bournemouth, Hampshire, working as a Navvy (Public Works).  His death was recorded in Bournemouth in 1973.
