Arthur Charles Moore was born at West Orchard, Shaftesbury, Dorset, on 12 Sep 1894 the son of Harry William Moore and Elizabeth Jane Moore (nee House).  He lived his early life at Keybrook Road, West Orchard.   He had enlisted and served with the 13th Hussars as a Private (Service No. 6880) later transferring to the Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry Division) (Service No. 56823).  It is not known in which theatre of war he served but on his discharge on 13 May 1919 he was awarded the Victory and British War Medals as well as the 1915 Star.  He married  Lottie May Rose at Sturminster, Dorset, on 6 Apr 1920.  By the time of the 1939 Register he was living at 98 Glue Hill, Sturminster, Dorset, working as a Dorset County Council Roadman.  He death was recorded in Sturminster in 1946.  His brother, Harry Philip Moore, also served in the conflict.
