Story: Harry Philip Moore (often known as Philip Harry Moore) was born at West Orchard, Shaftesbury, Dorset, on 15 Oct 1896 the son of Harry William Moore and Elizabeth Jane Moore (nee House). He lived his early life at Keybrook Road, West Orchard. He had enlisted and served with the Dorsetshire Regiment as a Private (Service No. 16306) later transferring to the Hampshire Regiment (Service No. 0360). It is not known in which theatre of war he served but on his discharge was awarded the Victory and British War Medals. By the 1921 Census he was living with his widowed mother at 20 West Orchard, Shaftesbury, described as an unemployed Agricultural Labourer. He married Mary Louisa Savory in the Sturminster, Dorset, Registry area on 12 Nov 1922, By the time of the 1939 Register he was living at West Hambrook, Langport, Yeovil, Somerset, working as a General Labourer. His death was recorded in Yeovil on 25 May 1963. His brother, Arthur Charles Moore, also served in the conflict.
