Story:
William Harry (sometimes called 'Henry') White was born on 3 Dec 1889 in Enmore Green, Shaftesbury, Dorset, and baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Shaftesbury, Dorset, on 2 Mar 1890 the son of William Frederick (sometimes names reversed) White and Emily White (nee Morgan). He lived all his life apart from military service in the local area. William enlisted with the Machine Gun Corps as a Private (Service No. 36712). It is not known in which theatre of war he served but on his discharge was awarded the Victory and British War Medals. The 1921 Census shows he was living at 16 St. James Street, Shaftesbury, Dorset, working as a Postman. He married Lily Beatrice Foote at St. John's Church, Enmore Green, Shaftesbury, on 27 Mar 1924. He died in late in 1934 and was buried at St. John's Church, Enmore Green, on 7 Nov 1934.
