By the 1921 Census he was living with his widowed mother at Deanend, Woodcutts, Sixpenny Handley, working as a Gamekeeper. He married Mabel May Ford (nee Coward), (the widow of Bertie Ford who had died in military service on 27 Jun 1918), in the Wimborne, Dorset, Registry area during 1923.
