Story: Levi Padfield was born at Margaret Marsh, Shaftesbury, Dorset, on 10 Jan 1891 the son of Charles Padfield and Sarah Maria Padfield (nee Mussell). He lived all his early life in the Margaret Marsh area. His father had died in 1913. He enlisted and served with the Army Service Corps as a Driver (Service No. T2/10428). It is not known in which theatre of war he served but on his discharge was awarded the Victory and British War Medals. The 1921 Census shows him living in Margaret Marsh with his widowed mother working as a Cowman. By the time of the 1939 Register he was living at Eastley Cottage, Wooton, New Milton, Hampshire, still employed as a Cowman and still single. His death is registered in the New Milton area in 1977.
Levi's brothers Albert and James also served in the war, but sadly James died in 1919 shortly after discharge from the army in 1919.
