Henry Thomas Jezard was born in Margate, Kent, on 13 Aug 1893 the son of Walter Edward Jezard and Hannah Jezard (nee Simmonds).   He spent his early life in Margate.  He married Amelia (sometimes called 'Melina') Oborne (who had been born in Shaftesbury, Dorset) in the Thanet, Kent, Registry area in 1916 (though Military Records show 5 Sep 1918).   Henry had enlisted with the 3rd Squadron of the Dragoon Guards as a Private (Service Nos. 5130 & D/5130).  It is not known in which theatre of was he served but on his discharge on 9 Apr 1919 he was awarded the Victory and British War Medals as well as the 1914/15 Star.  His address at the time was recorded on the Absent Voters Lists for 1918 & 1919 as Breach Lane, Shaftesbury, Dorset. The 1921 Census shows he had remained in the Army. By the 1939 Register he was living in Fulham, London, and was employed at the Whiteleys Furniture Depositry (London Ambulance & Fire Service Station) as a Voluntary Fireman though his trade was as a Master Tailor.  He died in Redbourne, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, on 26 Mar 1982.
