Story: George Guy was born in Stourpaine, Dorset, during 1895 and baptised there on 4 Aug 1895 the son of Henry John Guy and Sarah Annie Guy (nee March). He lived his early life in Stourpaine until by 1911 his family had moved to Peggs Mill Cottages, Iwerne Minster, Dorset. George had enlisted with the Dorsetshire Regiment as a Private (Service No. 13055). He served in France and Flanders with the 6th Battalion from 20 Aug 1915. On his discharge on 17 Mar 1919 he was awarded the Victory and British War Medals as well as the 1915 Star. In addition he received a short term pension for an undisclosed reason until 5 Oct 1924. He lived with his parents at the time of the 1921 Census in Iwerne Minster working as a Farm Labourer. He regrettably died during 1927 in Shaftesbury, Dorset.
