Story:
Frederick John Andrews was born in Marnull, Dorset, on 30 Sep 1884 the son of Walter Edwin Andrews and Emily Anna Andrews (nee Dawe). He lived his early life in Burton Street, Marnull. He had enlisted on 31 Dec 1901 and joined the Royal Marines Light Infantry as a Private (Service No. 12097). He married Rose Mead in Shaftesbury, Dorset, during 1915. It is not known in which theatre of war he served but on his eventual discharge was awarded the Victory and British War Medals as well as the 1914/15 Star. The 1921 Census shows he was registered as living at 93 St. James Street, Shaftesbury, Dorset, although he was still in the Marines. By the 1939 Register he was at the same address but having no occupation. He died in Poole, Dorset, during 1945.
