Story: Albert Frank Weeks was born in 1897 in Broad Chalke, Wiltshire, and baptised there on 5th September, 1897. He was the son of Frank Weeks, a Shepherd, and Fanny Weeks (Compton). At the time of the 1911 Census he was single, working as a Shepherd and living at Pound Street, Ebbesbourne Wake, Wiltshire. He enlisted in Wilton, Wiltshire, as a Private and joined the 1st Battalion of the Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire) Regiment (Service No. 10710) and served in France & Flanders. He was awarded the Victory, British War and 1915 Star medals. He died on 7th July 1916 and was buried at Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille, Somme, France (grave id. V.K.6). He is remembered on the Ebbesbourne Wake War Memorial.
