Story: Harry Edward Case was born on 9 Dec 1899 in Minchington, Dorset, and baptised at the Wilton Primitive Methodist Chapel at Wilton, Wiltshire, on 12 Mar 1900. He was the son of Edward Downer Case, a Butcher, and Emily Nellie Case (née Elliott). At the time of the 1911 Census he was single, a Scholar and living in Farnham, Dorset. He enlisted very soon after his 18th birthday in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, as a Private in the 6th Battalion of the Dorsetshire Regiment (Service No. 20919). He served in France & Flanders and was awarded the Victory and British War Medals. He was wounded in action at the Somme and died there on 29th September 1918 and was buried at Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension, Roisel , Somme, France (grave id. I.K.13). He is remembered on the Memorial Plaque inside the church at Berwick St. John, Wiltshire.
He is also remembered in Tollard Royal, Wiltshire, on the War Memorial and on the Roll of Honour inside the Church of St. Peter and Vincula in the village.
