Frederick James Winsor was born in Tarrant Hinton, Blandford, Dorset, on 29 May 1895 and baptised there on 21 Jul 1895 the son of George Winsor and Louisa Lucy Winsor (nee Horne).  He lived his early life in Tarrant Hinton.  He enlisted in the Royal Navy as a Stoker on 26 Jun 1916 (Service No. K34783) and served on a number of ships becoming a Stoker Class 1.  His given address per the Absent Voter List 1918 was The Drove, Iwerne Minster, Dorset.  He was discharged on 21 Dec 1918 and awarded the Victory and British War Medals.  He married Agnes Laura Elizabeth Bell in Iwerne Minster on 2 Oct 1924.   By the time of the 1939 Register he was living at Lower Stone Farm Cottage, Mudford Road, Yeovil, Somerset, working as a Pig Herdsman.  His death occurred in Yeovil on 8 Dec 1975.  His brother, Thomas Walter Winsor, also served in the conflict.
