Story:
Alfred Parsons was born in Shaftesbury, Dorset, during 1873 and baptised at St. James Church on 19 Oct 1873 the son of George Parsons and Emily Parsons (nee Wright). Prior to WW1 Alfred had joined the Dorsetshire Regiment (Special Reserve). (Service No. 3/7475). He had married Emily Kate Gray on 26 Mar 1894 and they had five children. Alfred was re-embodied with his old Regiment on 24 Aug 1914 but subsequently transferred to the Princess Charlotte's (Royal Berkhshire) Regiment on 10 Feb 1917. (Service No. 34574). He was discharged as physically unfit due to cardiac problems on 26 Jun 1917 but regrettably died the same year and was buried at St. James Church on 14 Sep 1917. His wife, living at 78 St. James, Shaftesbury, later received his Victory and British Medals.
