Story:
Albert Frank Weeks was born in 1897 in Broad Chalke, Wiltshire, and baptised there on 5th September, 1897. He was the son of Frank Weeks, a Shepherd, and Fanny Weeks (Compton). At the time of the 1911 Census he was single, working as a Shepherd and living at Pound Street, Ebbesbourne Wake, Wiltshire. He enlisted in Wilton, Wiltshire, as a Private and joined the 1st Battalion of the Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire) Regiment (Service No. 10710) and served in France & Flanders from 13 Jul 1915. He was awarded the Victory and British War Medals as well as the 1915 Star. He was killed in action on 7th July 1916 and buried in the Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille, Somme, France (grave id. V.K.6). He is remembered on the Ebbesbourne Wake War Memorial. His mother was awarded a dependent's pnsion.
